Origin

Kurilian bobtail is aboriginal breed, which was discovered in the late 20 th century. They came from Kuril ridge. It is believed that the Kurilian bobtail was born in the natural way. It claims that the island belongs to both – Japan and Russia. Still Japan is trying to regain the island and deprived of breed authenticity. The breed can be spotted in Kamchatka (Russia) and Sakhalin island (Russia). The breed isn’t so popular outside of Russia and Japan. Breed officially was recognized in 1195.

 

Personality

Kurilian bobtail are independent, but at the same time loving. This breed is very friendly, courageous, curios, reliable and very active. These cats are intelligent, which makes them ideal companions. There are good hunters. Like height and climbing in trees and rocks. Many believe that this breed has a dog’s soul. Often this breed chooses one or two owners and is loyal to them. Like to walk in leash our without. Very social cats – enjoy the presence of people, but they will entertained themselves at home if they alone.

 

Health

Bobtails are considered to be long living. Very healthy cat breed Unlike Manx and other breed with short tails, Kurilian Bobtails don’t have specific disease gene associated with the tail structure. There is no specific disease which affects this breed. Kurilian bobtails usually live up to 15 years and longer.

 

Care

This breeds coat is quite easy to care for. Their fur is smooth and sleek. They very good with tidying up themselves, but for semi-long haired would be a good couple of times in a week to brush them.
